New Year, New Millennium: New giant outdoor electronic displays
The celebration of 2001 was not only an interesting and scenic calendar event (after all, the triple celebration of a new year, century and millennium does not occur too often) but a rather memorable event for the budding technological trend of “Outdoor Video” and “Outdoor TV”. Everyone remembers the photographs of a New Year night of 2000 on the Time Square in New York that made it to all major newspapers of the world. Outdoor giant electronic displays were an impressive feature of that celebration.
The New Year celebration in the 2001 Moscow was as picturesque. All Moscow giant outdoor electronic displays occupied a special place in the celebrations and demonstrated their difference from traditional means of advertising. Naturally, giant electronic displays add to decoration of cities and public events. But huge displays that became the synonym of dynamic and bright advertising do not exhaust their usefulness there. They are ideal means for fast changing advertising campaigns and short public events such as national holidays. This function singles them out above all other decorative and pictorial installations.
Below you will find a collection of photos of various outdoor electronic displays that played an essential role during the New Year celebrations in Moscow.
